Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was targeting Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of UP who had come to campaign for elections in Maharashtra. He said that Yogi could not become a Chief Minister.
The police put Union Minister Narayan Rane in jail for threatening to ‘slap’ Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Just a day after this, an old video resurfaced on the internet. In the video, he says that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, namely Yogi Adityanath should be beaten with a chappal. Narayan Rane was a Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament as well. The police of Maharashtra arrested him. This person was released after nearly nine hours of his arrest on bail.
The video of the Shiv Sena chief which has gone viral is from 2018. In the video, he said that people should beat Yogi Adityanath with chappal. He added that he did not approve of the way Yogi came in. He described Yogi as an inflated balloon. As soon as Yogi came in, he went to garland the p[hoto of Maharaj. But the problem was that he had chappals on his feet. He had not opened them. So Uddhav commented that the same pair of chappals should perform the task of beating because he did not deserve to stand in front of Maharaj.
In his rally speech, Uddhav Thackeray is heard saying, “This is the way Maharaj is being insulted. And only Yogi did not insult him. This is BJP blood.” He also targeted Yogi and projected his doubts on Yogi being prepared enough to be a Chief Minister. This person also talked about the surname of Adityanath. He said that Adityanath could not become a Chief Minister if he was a yogi. If he really was a yogi, he should have left everything and gone into a cave. No one has the right to call himself/herself a yogi if he/she sits on the throne of the Chief Minister.
He continued that Yogi must have not known the relationship between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. So, when he again sets foot in Maharashtra, he should be reminded of the same. He said as quoted, “When Gagbhatt had come from there, he had given so much of respect to Shivaji Maharaj during the coronation ceremony.”
The Mahad Court granted bail to the Union Minister. BJP said that this arrest was a political vendetta. State President Chandrakant Patil confessed that the police kept Rane under inhuman conditions after his arrest. This happened to him in spite of the fact that his blood sugar level and blood pressure shot up beyond 500 mg/dl.
As Uddhav said his provocative speech, he had to face the consequences. The Yavatmal district BJP president Nitin Bhutada submitted an application demanding the registration of an FIR against Uddhav. The complainant submitted the application at the Umerkhed police station. The complaint mentioned that Uddhav used “provocative and filthy language” against the Hindutva leader Yogi. It also stated the date as 25th October 2020 during his Dussehra speech.
