International Dog Day: All You Need to Know About

Rajasree Roy

International Dog Day is celebrated every year on August 26 to respect and celebrate every dog. No matter what breed they are, pure or hybrid.

We should take at some point to see the value in the adoration and worth that canines bring to our day-by-day lives. From guarding us working for the crisis administrations to supporting individuals who are visually impaired, hard of hearing, or crippled, canines do a great deal for us people. This is a chance, a day to give something back to them.

Why do we celebrate International Dog Day?

This day was made to draw attention to the plight of canines and encourage adoption. Dogs are known as human best friends and loyal friends. They love their owners unconditionally.

The day was made in with honoring these unimaginable creatures who work magnanimously to bring solace, guard us, and save lives. They put their lives at risk, every time. There are canines that ensure our wellbeing and opportunity by recognizing bombs, just as those that pull casualties from wreckages and heartbreaking circumstances.

In addition, we have canines for the crippled, visually impaired, and law authorization. From these chivalrous canines to our family companions, these canines hold uncommon spots in our lives, thus it is just correct that we honor them.

History of International Dog Day

International Dog Day was started as National Dog Day in the US in 2004. Pet and family lifestyle expert and animal rescue advocate Colleen Paige started this daily ritual.  She chose to observe the day on August 26 because on this day her family adopted their first dog. It’s ‘Sheltie’ from an animal shelter home.

The website of National Dog Day describes their mission as: “to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort.”

How to celebrate this day?

There are many ways to celebrate Dog Day, on your own. You can adopt a dog from a rescue shelter. Or you can take responsibility for the treatment or love of a dog. You can even donate to a dog charity. Other than everything if you have a dog beside you just have your day with them.
