On Tuesday, 14th September, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia led the party’s Tiranga Yatra. The yatra started from Gulab Bari in Ayodhya which came up in a public meeting at Gandhi Park. It was the place where Sisodia took an oath to party workers to follow Lord Ram’s ideals in politics. He was joined by the Uttar Pradesh in-charge of Aam Aadmi Party Sanjay Singh. Before Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh arrived at the scene, the party workers had assembled at Gulab Bari. Each of them was holding the Tri-color. Aam Aadmi Party from several parts of the state had reached Ayodhya to take part in the event.

Sisodia and Singh led the yatra seated on an open mini truck. Sabhajeet Singh, who is the state president of the party, was also present on this occasion. Almost all the party workers were traveling on foot. The yatra moved through the busy crossings of the city which included Rikabganj, Niyawam, Reed Ganj, and Gudri Bazar. Sisodia addressed the party workers in his speech. He said that his party would double the income of the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. They added that they would ensure education for every child and health services for all in the state.

This party is planning to contest in the forthcoming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. They are due from February to March next year. Sisodia claimed that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) had failed on all fronts in Uttar Pradesh. He said that only the government run by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi was running on the ideals of Lord Ram. While speaking to the media persons, Sisodia said, “The AAP government in Delhi is the only government in the country that is following the principles of Lord Ram.” Then he attacked the Uttar Pradesh government. He said, “In the last four-and-a-half years, the BJP government has failed on all fronts. Crime rate is spiraling and the government has failed to provide jobs to youths.”

This leader claimed that both the education system and health services were in a bad state in Uttar Pradesh. Manish Sisodia also accused the BJP of misappropriating funds. He was talking about funds collected through donations for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. When questioned about his party’s Tiranga Yatra, he said, “It began from Agra. Thereafter it went to Noida. Today, we are in Ayodhya to take out Tiranga Yatra. The main purpose of this yatra is to ensure quality education for all and providing a safe atmosphere for women.” Even Shailesh Maurya, a local of Ayodhya said, “It was a well-mannered yatra. Against expectation, a large number of AAP workers had assembled for the event.”

Sisodia added that his party, the AAP will contest elections on its own in Uttar Pradesh without entering into an alliance with any party. The party recently said that it planned to name 100 candidates for UP assembly elections which were due early next year.
