We are, at a fast rate, moving into an era where 4K is the standard resolution of any video that we are about to watch. New 4K content is available every day on YouTube. However, we can’t watch these videos in full resolution offline because YouTube’s standard options would not allow it. Even the people who are YouTube Premium members can save music and videos offline but only at a maximum of 1080p resolution. Even the YouTube creators can download their uploaded videos at a maximum of 720p resolution.
This does not mean that it is impossible to download 4K YouTube videos. There are many third-party apps that allow one to download YouTube videos at their highest resolution possible including 4K and 8K. The most reliable one is named ‘4K Video Downloader for desktop’. This app is virus-free and is free of cost. It works in Mac, Windows, and Linux. It can download videos with a maximum 8K resolution and can also extract sub-titles for closed-captioned videos.
However, the free version of this app has a few limitations. One can download only 30 videos in total per day out of which only 5 can be from the same channel. It also has to be just 10 videos per playlist. This is ad-supported. One will find constant banners for other products in the app. There is a Premium version for $15 a month. It allows unlimited downloads daily and downloading of three videos simultaneously. Other than this, there is also a Pro version for $45 a month. It increases the simultaneous download limit to seven with other features.
Technically, it is against YouTube’s terms of service to download a video. But if one is just making an offline backup to watch in privacy, he/she won’t get into trouble. To date, YouTube has not threatened any legal action against its downloader app users. One can however face trouble if he/she broadcasts or re-uploads a downloaded video without proper consent or credit or stealing copyrighted content.
Now comes the part where we learn how to download YouTube videos with a 4K Video Downloader. At first, one has to download and install the 4K Video Downloader on their PC or laptop. Then the person has to open YouTube in a browser. After that, one finds the video he/she wants to download and copies the video’s link from the URL bar or the share button. The copied link has to be pasted by clicking “paste link” in the app. It will parse the video’s data and the time it will take depends on the video’s size.
Then one has to select “Download Video” from the first drop-down box. He/she can also select “Extract Audio” to download just the audio form of the video. Later the downloader has to select the video format and quality. One can also use the “Download Subtitles” before clicking on “Download”. The time taken to download depends on the resolution and size of the video.
One can easily find the downloaded file. This is because the 4K Video Downloader’s download folder is located in This PC’s Videos by default.
