India Confirmed Deal with Russia About AK-103 Rifles

As a part of the super infantry modernization program, India is acquiring a sizable number of AK-103 rifles for the Indian Army from Russia. These two nations made a deal under the arrangements of crisis acquisition.  PTI office covered this news on Friday. 

Under this modernization plan of India- Russia, the army is purchasing a large number of light machine guns, assault rifles, AK-103 rifles, battle carbines. This is to replace its aging and obsolete weapons.

“A deal has been finalized with Russia for direct purchase of a batch of AK-103 series of assault rifles,” a source told the news agency. He, nonetheless, didn’t reveal the quantity of rifles or the expense of acquisition.

The AK-103 rifles are being acquired under the emergency monetary forces conceded to the three administrations to make pressing buys, the report said referring to two authorities acquainted with the matter.

This deal comes four years after the Army started the cycle to get around seven lakh rifles, 44,000 light automatic weapons, and almost 44,600 carbines in 2017. 

Last year in September, New Delhi and Moscow signed a significant deal for assembling AK-47 203 rifles in India. The AK-47 203 is the most recent and most progressive form of the AK-47 rifle, which will supplant the Indian Small Arms System (INSAS) 5.56×45 mm attack rifle.

The Ministry of Defence in a statement said: “Both sides welcomed the advance stage of discussions for the establishment in India of an India-Russian Joint Venture for the production of AK203 rifles which are considered one of the most modern weapons available for infantry forces”. This deal has a very good and positive side for India. This deal is making stronger India. Also, this is revealing India as a powerful nation in the world. This AK 103 rifle deal is making the India-Russia relationship strong.
